natural lip balm
Many of us use lip balm on a daily basis and it can be easy to make your own natural lip balm and avoid those that contain petrochemicals. This simple, effective recipe contains only plant-based ingredients (no toxic chemicals) so it's safe for you and the planet!
Lip Balm Recipe
5ml (1 tsp) organic shea butter or cocoa butter
15ml (1 Tbsp) avocado oil
15ml (1 Tbsp) beeswax (grated or pastilles) or soy wax
Optional: 5 drops essential oil (e.g. peppermint, lime, grapefruit) and/or 1 drop Vitamin E oil.
Put about 50ml of water into a small pot on low heat. Combine first three ingredients in a small metal bowl. Create a double boiler by placing the bowl on top of the pot. Stir ingredients until melted. Remove from heat. Add optional ingredients. Stir, let cool and store in air tight container. You can choose reusable tins, glass or plastic/paper tubes.
If you like the idea of making one but just need one now, we have four varieties of Natural Lip Balm available here.

Otherwise it was a really fun afternoon project. I am left only to kick myself for spending so much money on drugstore lip balms all these years.
Rollerball Perfume
* Rollerballs are great for traveling. Pack a perfume rollerball in your travel pouch for that weekend getaway. You don’t want to be bothered by bringing along that entire bottle of your favorite perfume, but you want to make that trip extra memorable by smelling nice and fresh all throughout!
* Rollerballs make for easy application. Have you ever spritzed perfume on the wrong part of your body, or on no part of your body at all? If it’s not yet happened to you, you’re one of the lucky few! But a fragrance rollerball won’t cause any trouble of that sort, because it lets you control where the perfume goes. On your wrists? Decolletage? Behind the ears? Just apply it directly on these warm parts of your body and you’re good to go.
* Rollerballs are great for touch ups. You don’t have to choose between being a spritzer or a roller and give up the bottle altogether. Spritz at the start of your day and take your rollerball perfume with you everywhere to keep your scent vibrant well into the evening. Just throw it in your purse like a trusty beauty essential (think lip color) and touch up every now and then.
* Rollerballs are inexpensive. Why not try the daisy rollerball before deciding to commit to purchasing the bottle? If you’re wondering if a certain fragrance will work for you, rollerballs are your best bet. They’re a great way to test-drive a perfume as they cost a lot less than their bottled counterparts. And if you’re not the type to stick to one brand or use up a whole bottle, you can afford to play around with rollerballs.
